She lectured for abolition and racial justice, and also for women's rights. She was one of the best known African American women of the 19th century. These images are drawn from paintings and from photographs. Some of the photographs are copies of cartes de visite which Sojourner Truth sold at lectures, and were the main source of income for Truth in her career as a lecturer. Graphic Index | Text Index
