Cheese Sandwich - 1894 Style

From a 19th century recipe for cheese sandwich

Ingredients:

  • 2 cup milk
  • 1 cup grated cheese
  • 2 cups fine bread crumbs
  • 1/2 teaspoon mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • thin slices buttered toast

Preparation:

Heat two cups of milk and one of grated cheese; then add two cups of fine bread crumbs, half teaspoonful of mustard, pepper and salt; mix it well. Spread thickly between thin slices of buttered toast.
