Equal Opportunities!!

What is equal about opportunities in a work place? Those who work late hours are more hard working and hence get more promotions. How can a mother do that when she needs to cook and help the little ones at home with homework. So she finishes in 8 hours. But where is the recognition in being efficient and finshing work during office hours? Or she reaches early to catch up since children have a;ready gone to school. But then there is never anyone in office early. Every one is going to come in late to work because he worked late the previous night because he could not finish the work in time because he was 'netwoking' (gossiping) or 'destressing'(taking a smoke/tea break) several times during the day :)

weaker sex

Women have been considered the "weaker sex" for a long time, but if we were so weak how is it we could control our sexual urges when the poor boys gave in to theirs because they were tempted beyond their control?

women are not as strong as men is a lie

Women are not as strong as men is treated as fact but it is not one. I have seen women stronger than men as they do what is best for their families and their significant other can't or won't. I have seen women stronger than men when they buried their only child. I have seen them stronger than men when they care for special needs children and work full time when the father is dead or away.

Lady Godiva

I understand the original story was that Lady Godiva threatened to ride through Coventry 'uncovered', which is not the same as 'naked'. Because of the scourge of headlice and other creepy-crawlies, upper class people would shave their heads, but wear wigs. In an age when covering the head was a moral requirement, to threaten to go riding with a bare head (no hat, or no wig, or both!) would have brought great shame on her husband. They had a different type of morality in those days!

Lady Godiva??

We've always heard that Lady Godiva rode a horse naked (now why this supposedly occurred and where has left my memory). However, I always had a certain amount of respect for Ms. Godiva, whether it's true or not, because it would take a lot of guts to shed the clothes and go anywhere, much less on a horse!

Myth!

"The hand that rocks the cradle rules the world." Not sure who the author was, but it is patently untrue! Ditto the myth about women controlling the bulk of the world's wealth.
