Sarah Josepha Hale ruled the 19th century women's magazine world in America, with her long-term editorship of Lady's Magazine. She's known for such other contributions as writing the words to "Mary Had a Little Lamb" and her decades-long campaign to get a national Day of Thanksgiving.
