Hildegard of Bingen has been honored as a local saint in Germany since shortly after her death, and also honored as a saint more widely -- she's included among those recognized by the Church of England -- but she was not recognized universally in the Roman Catholic church as a saint until Pope Benedict XVI included her in the "official roster" in May of 2012.
