Anarchists
Emma Goldman and Alexander Berkman were convicted in 1917 of conspiracy against the draft laws, and sentenced to to years in prison and fined $10,000. As immigrants, they were then expelled from the United States and emigrated to Russia in 1917. But Emma Goldman's anarchism led her to disillusionment with the new Soviet state, and she left for Europe.
