Jason Wu designed the white silk chiffon inaugural gown, with organza flowers and Swarovski crystals, worn by Michelle Obama for her husband's 2009 inauguration as President of the United States. Wu has said that he designed the gown to symbolize hope, and that he did not know she was going to wear the dress, first finding out when he saw it on television.
The dress was a gift of Jason Wu to the Smithsonian National Museum of American History in 2010, in honor of Michelle Obama.
