Her husband, Sargent Shriver, was the Democratic nominee for vice president of the United States, in 1972. Eunice Shriver's brothers included John F. Kennedy, president; Robert F. Kennedy, Senator, Attorney General, and presidential candidate; and Ted Kennedy, Senator and presidential candidate. Maria Shriver is one of her children.
