Elizabeth I of England lived from 1533 to 1603, and reigned from 1558 to her death, the last of the Tudor dynasty rulers of England. She was known in her time as The Virgin Queen and Good Queen Bess.
During her long reign, many paintings of her were completed, and might be seen as part of her public relations campaign to control her image.
