As it became apparent that women would win the vote with ratification of the 19th Amendment to the US Constitution, Carrie Chapman Catt and other suffragists, mostly from the National American Woman Suffrage Association (NAWSA) founded a new organization to help educate women in their new participation in the voting process. Catt was elected honorary president of that board. This photograph is from the founding convention of the League of Women Voters, held in Chicago in February of 1920. Among the women shown are Carrie Chapman Catt, Maud Wood Park and Grace Wilber Trout.
