Jeane Kirkpatrick (November 19, 1926 - December 7, 2006) was a political scientist, a Democrat-turned-Reagan-Republican, and a US ambassador to the United Nations, known during her term for her acerbic comments. She was the first woman to hold the permanent position as US Representative to the United Nations."I do believe that there still may be some special sort of resentment of women in high politics in this country.
