Coretta Scott King, married to civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King, jr., was herself active in the movement. Sometimes alone with their four children while her husband traveled, she was also often at his side. After King's assassination in 1968, Coretta Scott King took on a more active role in keeping alive the dream of nonviolence and human rights.

Coretta Scott King died in 2006.
