Lucienne Biography:

Lucienne married Prince Bohemond V of Antioch in 1235. He had been previously married to the Dowager Queen of Cyprus and Jerusalem, Alice of Cyprus, but they had no children and the marriage was annulled about 1229 on the grounds of consanguinity. Bohemond had asked Pope Innocent IV to choose a new wife for him. Lucienne and Bohemond lived primarily in Tripoli during the marriage.

When Lucienne's husband died in January, 1252, their son, Bohemond VI, was only fifteen, and not yet of age to serve as king. Lucienne served as his regent, ruling Antioch from Tripoli, and permitting her Roman relatives to run Antioch. This eventually led to her replacement as regent by her son, permitted by the king of France, Louis IX. Louis arranged for the new prince to marry Sibylla of Armenia, settling a long fight between Antioch and neighboring Armenia. Eventually, Bohemond VI lost Antioch to the Muslims, though his son, Bohemond VII, took the title of prince of Antioch.

Living in a time when women's power was mainly wielded for and through male relatives, Lucienne's life is not well documented.
