Jane Addams and Her Vision for America

Sandra Opdycke, Vassar College

This book presents the ideas and work of Jane Addams, one of the Progressive Era's most well-known women activists. Less focused on Addams' work at Hull-House than many biographies are, the author looks at Addams' role in many of the social reforms of her time, including women's and children's rights, labor reform, anti-war work, and her general commitment to democracy.
