    1877: Josephine Goldmark born (reformer, researcher, writer)

    1925: Margaret Thatcher born (politician, first woman prime minister in Europe)

    1967: President Lyndon B. Johnson issued Executive Order #11246 prohibiting sex discrimination in employment by the federal government and by federal contractors

    1984: Childhood friends Sally Ride and Kathryn Sullivan complete shuttle mission: the second mission for Ride, and the mission in which Sullivan became the first American woman to walk in space
