    1855: Julia Richmond born (educator)

    1871: Harriet Boyd Hawes born (archeologist)

    1884: Eleanor Roosevelt born (settlement house worker, WTUL supporter, social reformer, First Lady, newspaper columnist, United Nations delegate; played major role in drafting the Universal Declaration of Human Rights)

    1964: American Women, a report of the US Presidential Commission on the Status of Women, documented widespread sex discrimination and called on the Supreme Court to clarify women's constitutional standing.

    1975: Bill Clinton and Hillary Diane Rodham married

    1991: Anita Hill testified on the nomination of Clarence Thomas to the Supreme Court.

    1998: Edith Stein (born into an Orthodox Jewish family; philosopher; Carmelite nun; killed in gas chambers at Auschwitz) canonized by the Roman Catholic Church amidst controversy
