    1848: Five women decided to call a convention in Seneca Falls on the conditions and rights of women

    1863: Mary Woolley born (educator, Mount Holyoke College president, 1901-1937)

    1875: June Etta Downey born (writer, educator, psychologist)

    1979: Women's History Summer Institute at Sarah Lawrence College, July 13-29, led to founding of Women's History Month.
