    1832: New England Anti-Slavery Society organized, Boston, Massachusetts. Participation in this organization prepares many women to conclude that women, too, ought to have more rights.

    1944: Ida Tarbell died (muckraking journalist)

    1945: Barbara Pierce married George Bush

    1957: Nancy Lopez born

    1994: Nancy Kerrigan, American figure skater favored to win the US Figure Skating Championship, was clubbed on the right leg -- as it turns out, instigated by the husband and the bodyguard of Tonya Harding, a figure skating rival.
