Suffrage Cartoon

Anti-Suffrage Sentiments

The suffrage movement found itself the subject of many cartoons, pro and con. In this, the fear that sex roles would be completely reversed is the basis of the image, with the man in an apron, holding screaming infants, while mother, in a suit coat, is off to the wider world.

A suffrage cartoon originally published before 1910. Original copyright: E. W. Gustin. Courtesy of the Library of Congress.
