Katharine Hepburn
(May 12, 1907 - June 29, 2003)
actress

Born in Connecticut, she attended Bryn Mawr College where she was an actress in college plays. In 1928 she first appeared on the stage, and in 1932 first appeared in a motion picture, A Bill of Divorcement.

She's known for her portrayal of strong women at a time when many believed that such images were box office poison. Her relationship both on- and off-screen with actor Spencer Tracy (films from 1942-1967) was a matter of some notoriety.

Hepburn's film career established, she also appeared occasionally on stage in the 1950s through the 1980s.
