Do you want to honor a notable woman by wearing her image? Here's the basics of how to create a t-shirt using your computer. It would make a great Women's History Month project -- or any other time of the year.
Difficulty: Average
Time Required: Varies
Here's How:
- Find an image of the woman you want to honor. Check images online or in graphics collections, or scan a print image.
- Buy a large-enough cotton (or 50/50) t-shirt designed to be used for iron-on images.
- Purchase special iron-on image paper designed for your printer. An inkjet color printer or a color laser printer is best.
- Print a copy of the image on the special paper. Print it large enough (using your printer or graphic software) so that the image will be large.
- Follow directions that come with the paper to iron-on the image.
- Wear shirt proudly. (After letting it cool, of course.)
Tips:
- Pick an image that's copyright free or use one you have permission to use. If you've purchased a collection of graphics, you probably have permission to use those images.
- If you don't have the right paper, take the printed image and the t-shirt to a professional copy center which may be able to transfer the image.
