New Controversy over Japanese Involvement in World War II Sex Slavery
Monday March 5, 2007
In February 2007, a new resolution was introduced into the US Congress to demand an apology from Japan for its involvement in the so-called "comfort women" of World War II.
A few days ago, Japan's Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said that women were not forced into sex slavery by the Japanese military in World War II; now he says that Japan's already acknowledged and apologized for military involvement in the brothels. Both remarks have provoked more worldwide controversy and responses.
