Aung San Suu Kyi, Nobel Peace Prize Winner, is 60 Years Old

Opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi, who won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1991, is still under house arrest in Myanmar (Burma). Her election in 1990 was ignored by the military junta that took power in 1988. The occasion of her birthday has been statements by world leaders in recognition of her work for peace and democracy.
