Maureen Reagan, eldest child of US President Ronald Reagan and his wife, Jane Wyman, forged a political presence herself as an activist and political commentator. At a time when the Republican Party moved away from its historic support (since 1940) of an Equal Rights Amendment to the Constitution, Maureen maintained this support in opposition to her father.
