Lady Godiva was a real historical person -- wife of the Anglo-Saxon earl of Mercia in the 11th century, she's recorded as living through the Norman invasion of 1066. A few years before that invasion, she's also said to have protested her own husband's taxes on his subjects by riding nude through the streets of Coventry. What's wrong with that story?
