(1) Radha says:

Enheduanna is NOT the first author in the world. And it is a fact. The first author/poet in the world is said to be sage Valmiki, author of Ramayana 5114 B.C.E. Please do not give out of false information if your brain is not working.

All I find to defend that theory is that Pushkar Bhatnagar of the Indian Revenue Service ran some data through a software program on astronomical events, based on interpretations of the text. This is NOT a widely accepted historical fact.

(Students of history might note that when someone comments with words like “your brain is not working,” it’s a good guess that the allegation of that commenter bears further investigating.)

Valmiki was alive in the 400 BCE’s, not 5000 BCE’s, so he could not have been an author before Enheduanna. Please get your own facts straight before making comments about other people’s information.

Thanks, Jone, for the fascinating post on Enheduanna daughter of Sargon the Great! And for gently but firmly rebutting Radha’s more than obnoxious charge of cerebral inactivity. Indeed, it is sad how many of my fellow Hindus too often relapse into believing that antiquity in itself confers ‘extra’ greatness on a wonderful epic like the Ramayana. Perhaps that’s why India is ruled by geriatrics till this day! :)
