There's a commitment to a National Women's History Museum for Washington, DC -- but no home on or near the National Mall, where proponents want to see the museum. The cybermuseum for the NWHM has been online for some years, but since 1996, the organization behind this effort has been seeking a place. Two previous possibilities haven't worked out, but with the move of the National Health Museum to Atlanta, a new possibility has opened up. Watch for legislation to be introduced into Congress when the legislators return from their August break.
Since I live in the DC area, I'm especially excited to think about the possibility of adding a museum explicitly dealing with women's history to the impressive resources in the US capital city -- and the possibility of hanging out there at "real life" rather than only at online virtual exhibits.
On the NMWH website, you'll find information on how to show your support for this effort.
