In 1850, Charlotte Brontė wrote a biographical essay about her two sisters, Anne Brontė and Emily Brontė, with information about herself, as well. The sisters had been writing under the pseudonyms of Currer, Ellis, and Acton Bell. Emily and Anne had recently died. Charlotte married in 1854, but died in 1855 of complications of pregnancy. None of the three talented sisters lived to the age of forty.
