Quotes from More Women Writers
Sunday October 30, 2005
This week's quotes, updated and expanded, are from three women writers, all of whom died early and all of whom made contributions to women's history:
- Anne Frank. who died in Bergen-Belsen concentration camp in 1945 at age 15 and whose diary documents the day-to-day life of a Jewish teen hiding from the Nazi occupiers of the Netherlands
- Sylvia Plath, who died of suicide at age 30 and was a gifted poet and novelist, documenting the life of a depressed young woman in her autobiographical fiction and poetry
- Mary Wollstonecraft, who died of childbed fever at age 38 and whose feminist writings helped inspire several waves of feminism after her.
