Women Marchers Attacked at Inauguration

suffrage demonstrationIn 1913, the US President was inaugurated in March, not January. And in 1913, Woodrow Wilson arrived in Washington DC for his inauguration to discover that the attention was not on him -- instead, it was on a Woman Suffrage Parade down Pennsylvania Avenue. Five to eight thousand suffragists marched from the US Capitol past the White House -- and were attacked by anti-suffrage onlookers, while police looked on and did little or nothing. Read more...
