Sakakawea Statue to National Statuary Hall

The state of North Dakota has recently installed a statue of Sakakawea (also spelled Sacagawea or Sacajawea) in the U.S. Capitol. The Shoshone Indian woman served as a guide and translator for the Lewis and Clark expedition to the western part of the American continent.
