Colette Film Actress Dies

In Lithuania making a television movie about Colette (Sidonie Gabrielle Colette), French actress Marie Trintignant died on August 1, after a beating five days before. Her rock singer boyfriend, Bertrand Cantat of the band Noir Désir, has been detained by authorities. Her mother, Nadine Trintignant, a film director and feminist activist, was also in Lithuania, directing the Colette film. Marie Trintignant's father, Jean-Louis Trintignant, is a French movie star. Colette was a French writer whose semi-autobiographical novels tended to focus on female sexuality in a male-dominated world.
